In conjunction with their recent Golaço competition, where entrants can win a trip to Brazil with Roberto Carlos, Umbro are releasing five exclusive video interviews with the legendary Brazilian Left back. Continuing the series Carlos talks about growing up in Brazil and the early part of his career.
Roberto Carlos came from humble beginnings, growing up Garca, a small town near Sao Paolo. It was his father who first gave him a football and believed he would become a professional footballer. But life wasn't always easy. "Our pitches were the Streets, we played in the streets. We didn't concrete on the streets, it was all sand, it was a complicated life...it was difficult."
His fathers dreams came true however, and Carlos went on to play for União São João and Palmeiras in Brazil before moving to Italy to play for Inter Milan. He then moved to Real Madrid where he would spend the majority of his career. Carlos also made 125 appearances for Brazil and scored one of the most famous free kicks of all time, the inspiration behind Umbro's new competition.
The Golaço competition encourages participants to capture and share their own amazing goals via Umbro’s special Golaço app. Five winners will be selected by Roberto Carlos who’ll enjoy the ultimate Brazilian football experience courtesy of Umbro.
